Araw ng Maynila

Today, June 24, marks the 443rd Foundation Day of the City of Manila.

By virtue of Presidential Decree No. 940, s. 1976, the City of Manila was designated as Capital while Metro Manila is the seat of the national government.

PCDSPO joins the commemoration by publishing two infographic maps with a special focus on Manila: the first showcasing the city as one of many pre-Hispanic polities throughout the islands that make up the Philippine archipelago and another chronicling the capitals of the Philippines—a story of departure and return to what the Spaniards once heralded as the Distinguished and Ever Loyal City. Together, the two infographic maps portray Manila’s evolution from a Spanish conquest into a modern metropolis.

BI Cares - Bureau of Immigration (Flash Mob)

Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel surprised arriving passengers at NAIA Terminal 2 through a FLASH MOB, today, 12 June 2014, concomitant with the celebration of Philippine Independence Day. The same is part of the customer intimacy project of the Bureau consistent with its rebranding initiatives. It is also an artistic interpretation of the BI’s vision to deliver innovative immigration service. This is to communicate the message that BI has something new to offer; to verbalize the Bureau’s “Good Guys In, Bad Guys Out” plan of action; and to show that indeed, “It is More Fun in the Philippines!”

The program called “BI-CARES” aims to ensure the deployment of a friendlier, more customer-oriented troop of immigration officers who will create a more enviable environment for travelers, local and foreign alike using our international ports.

BI C.A.R.E.S. stands for courtesy, accountability, responsibility, efficiency and services.
